A Couple Of Wildcats Hint At A Departure

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

Now that the college football regular season is over, you can expect to start seeing some movement from collegiate athletes putting their names into the transfer portal.

Earlier today, a couple of Wildcats did not fully announce that they are transferring next year, but they did hint at a possible departure from the University of Kentucky Football program.

The first player to tweet this morning was wide receiver Chauncey Magwood.

Magwood is a sophomore out of Albany, Georgia. He did not see the field a whole lot during his freshman season in 2021, however, this season Magwood has seven receptions for over a hundred yards and one touchdown.

The second player to tweet out something like this earlier this morning was wide receiver Chris Lewis. He is a freshman out of Pleasant Grove, Alabama. Lewis grabbed two receptions for a combined twenty two yards and one touchdown this year.

One might ask, "why does it matter if we lose a couple of players to the transfer portal?". Well, at the end of the day, it does not matter, because in this day and time of the transfer portal, teams will have players come and go very often. Even Mark Stoops has admitted to this. It is interesting to note that both of these are wide receivers and maybe that could be a good sign for Kentucky's chances to keep both Barion Brown and Dane Key this offseason.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on this in the coming months to see how the transfer portal will shape the Kentucky Wildcats' 2023 roster.
