Barion Brown Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

The awards are starting to roll in for freshman star Barion Brown.

After a 102-yard performance on just 4 catches, which includes a 70-yard run, the Kentucky receiver has earned a SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honor. His two touchdowns against NIU helped push the Cats into a victory which now makes four straight for the program.

His one hundred plus yards are the most for a UK freshman since Garrett “Juice” Johnson who recorded 154 yards versus Florida on Sept. 13, 2014.

Not to forget, the true freshman also was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week following the first game of the season versus Miami (OH). After opening the second half with a 100-yard kickoff return to put Kentucky up by double-digits, how could you not? What we're seeing in Kentucky's receiving core is two different worlds than what it was just three seasons ago. Even more mind blowing, Brown is currently averaging 15.5 yards per catch.

The ceiling is extremely high for the young receivers in Barion and his co-star Dane Key. As both are freshman, we get at least 2 more seasons from the two. On top of that, we have Tayvion Robinson this year and potentially one more if he was to decide to return, so the future is looking great in the pass game for the Wildcats.
