Big Blue Madness Date And Time Announced

One of the best fan events in all of UK Athletics, in my opinion, is Big Blue Madness. I know in most recent years it has gotten a bit more stale than what it once was, but I'd be lying to you if I told you that on every single BBM night I don't go crazy on the inside as it pulls out the little kid who was first introduced to Kentucky Basketball many years ago. The preseason jitters, the bright lights, the introduction of the new team, and the first-glimpse buzz that circulates from the coverage of it all. I love it. A practice that fans (used to) campout for is the ipitamy of college basketball at its core. There's not much to me that gets better than that. It's UK's special tradition.

While that's neither here nor there, the basketball program did announce this afternoon the official date and time of the 2023 Big Blue Madness taking place right here in the heart Lexington. The event will be at Rupp Arena as usual, tipping off at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night which is slated for October 13.

Tickets are of course free like every year, but in-person ticketing won't be available due to the construction at Memorial Coliseum. Fans will have to "purchase" tickets online through Ticketmaster and pay the minimal processing fees associated with receiving the ticket. There's been a limit set of two tickets per household for the event.

Fans will get to see the men's and women's basketball team, watch introductions of the players and coaches while also being highlighted with former players, a dunk contest, and a three-point contest. Exciting times, no doubt.

The SEC Network will also broadcast the event live to all fans who aren't able to make it for the 18th edition of Rupp Arena hosting the event once known by many as "Midnight Madness." Things sure have changed over the years but one thing that has not is the excitement people from the state of Kentucky have for their basketball. Seeing blue pack in the downtown streets and smiling first-timers for the free event is something that I live for. I already cannot wait and I hope to see every one of you there that is reading this.
