Kentucky senior Blair Green, suffered a season-ending injury during Kentucky's closed scrimmage against EKU on Saturday, and went through surgery on Tuesday to repair it.
The Harlan County native tore her Achilles tendon, ending her senior year immediately. Her mother, Debbie Green, reached out to WYMT and said that Blair will be returning for a fifth year in Lexington. “We appreciate the outpouring of prayers and concerns for Blair. She will return next season for a 5th year and a comeback!”
UK writer, Larry Vaught, said he's being told that Blair Greens surgery "went great."
On Saturday evening when UK announced the injury, Head Coach Kyra Elzy commented on what it would be like losing Blair for the foreseeable future. "Blair Green exemplifies what being a Kentucky women's basketball player is all about. Although it appears we have lost her on the court, her leadership off the court will still have an impact on our team this season. We will be here to support her through this and make sure she comes out better on the other side. I ask that Big Blue Nation fills her and her family with love and support right now."
