For the most part we knew that this was coming, however, we didn't know exactly when. Today Kentucky Football tight end, Brenden Bates, made it official. He announced on social media that he will be entering his name into the 2024 NFL Draft.
Bates was a member of the 2018 class and was a fifth-year senior from Cincinnati, Ohio. Over Brenden's five seasons with the Wildcats, he managed to bring in 26 receptions for 272 receiving yards. He also managed to find the end zone on two different occasions, once in 2021 and once in 2022.
One might say that Kentucky didn't target the tight ends enough during his time here but Bates also had to share time on the field between both Jordan Dingle and Josh Kattus over the last two seasons, cutting down on his number of targets.
I hope Brenden Bates finds a home somewhere within the NFL on an organization that can use him and I wish him the best of luck throughout his future endeavors. The kid loved playing at Kentucky and his loyalty will be long missed.
