Kentucky continues to add experience to its offensive roster. Tight end Brenden Bates announced through his Twitter account that he will be returning for a sixth year of eligibility. He will join returners Justice and Jordan Dingle, Josh Kattus and Izayah Cummings in Vince Marrow's very talented position room.
Bates was a 3-star prospect in the 2018 class out of Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati, Ohio. He held offers from Iowa, Pitt, Louisville and many others. He has played in 21 games for the Wildcats, with 22 receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Bates was injured much of the 2022 season, after injuring his labrum in the preseason. He had surgery to repair his torn labrum and expects to be back to full strength by spring practice.
