Just How Old IS Kellan Grady?

It’s no secret that this year’s Kentucky basketball team is, well, a bit more seasoned than usual. Talented young freshmen have been the hallmark of John Calipari's teams the past decade, as he has relied heavily on one-and-dones to construct his rosters. With the transfer rules now changed, Cal has adjusted his strategy slightly in the last couple years, seeking out proven veterans from the portal to fill the gaps in talent. This year, Cal has the oldest team he’s ever had during his tenure. And at 24 years old, Kellan Grady is the most senior member of the bunch. He's so old, in fact, that the rest of the team has nicknamed him “Grandad”. We at Cats Coverage got curious, with all the young guys Kentucky has in the NBA, just how much older is Kellan than everyone else? So naturally, we made a list. Here are some of the notable current and former Cats listed from oldest to youngest:

  • Karl-Anthony Towns (11-15-95)

  • Reid Travis (11-25-95)

  • Tyler Ulis (1-5-96)

  • Devin Booker (10-30-96)

  • Jamal Murray (2-23-97)

  • Nate Sestina (5-12-97)

  • Bam Adebayo (7-18-97)

  • Kellan Grady (9-11-97)

  • Nick Richards (11-29-97)

  • De'Aaron Fox (12-20-97)

  • Malik Monk (2-4-98)

  • Davion Mintz (6-30-98)

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (7-12-98)

  • Hamidou Diallo (7-31-98)

  • PJ Washington (8-23-98)

  • Olivier Sarr (2-20-99)

  • Jarred Vanderbilt (4-3-99)

  • Immanuel Quickley (6-17-99)

  • Ashton Hagans (7-8-99)

  • Kevin Knox (8-11-99)

  • Keldon Johnson (10-11-99)

  • Oscar Tshiebwe (11-27-99)

  • Tyler Herro (1-20-00)

  • Keion Brooks Jr. (8-7-00)

  • Tyrese Maxey (11-4-00)

There you have it! If your head is spinning a little bit from looking at that list, you're not alone. I needed a half hour lie-down when I learned that Grady is older than Fox and Monk. Comment below what surprised you the most about the Cats' ages.
