CC Staff Predictions: Miami (OH) vs. Kentucky

We have waited 245 long days since Kentucky walked off the field in a 20-17 victory over Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. Fast forward to September 3rd and expectations are at an all-time high and Lexington is buzzing about what could be in store for the 2022 football season.

The Miami (OH) RedHawks of the MAC are the first obstacle on the Wildcats' schedule this season. Picked to finish first in their division, the Redhawks provide a good test for Mark Stoops' squad in their opener, as Brett Gabbert, older brother of NFL quarterback Blaine Gabbert, leads a prolific passing offense into Kroger Field. This is a perfect scenario for Kentucky's secondary to get tested early in the year against a less talented team. Meanwhile, their defense is a group with age and experience and is sound on the interior and in the linebacker room. Long story short, Miami (OH) is the perfect week one opponent.

Every week, the staff at Cats Coverage is going to predict the score for each game. This is where everyone stands on the Wildcats' week one matchup:

Matt Sak

Miami (OH) - 17

Kentucky - 42

J.R. Simpson

Miami (OH) - 17

Kentucky - 52

Braden Nevius

Miami (OH) - 14

Kentucky - 38

Jordan Mathus

Miami (OH) - 17

Kentucky - 37

Tres Terrell

Miami (OH) - 21

Kentucky - 42

Janson Hoskins

Miami (OH) - 17

Kentucky - 43

Despite all of us thinking Kentucky will win comfortably, do not be surprised if there is some tension in the room at halftime as the RedHawks are no pushover.

With that said, Kentucky should get out of Kroger Field with a win and a lot to look forward to for week two at Florida.
