Chaz Lanier Set To Visit Kentucky

It has been quite a roller coaster ride for Kentucky fans in regards to North Florida's Chaz Lanier. It has been speculated that Mark Pope and the coaching staff have room for at least one more elite player to help round-out the 2024-25 roster. There for some time it was looking like it would be Jaxson Robinson who played under Coach Pope at BYU. However, there is now some legit smoke to the Chaz Lanier rumors as he intends to visit Kentucky next Monday, according to Travis Branham of 247 Sports.

Lanier is the eleventh overall ranked transfer in the 2024 transfer portal class and has been in contact with both Tennessee and Kentucky since entering his name into the portal. Before Lanier makes the trip to Lexington, he has business to attend to tonight in Chicago as he takes the court for the NBA’s G League Elite Camp.

Lanier's Pro Day event is tonight and I would expect at least someone from Kentucky's coaching staff to be in attendance for support.

After tonight, he will then be visiting BYU’s campus which is kind of unexpected, but then he should be in the Bluegrass by Monday at the latest. Travis Branham then went on to say that a visit to Tennessee is still not out of the question, but that date is still to be determined.

If you are Mark Pope, you try everything you can to not allow Chaz to leave Lexington without a commitment in place. The addition of Chaz Lanier would be a huge way to cap-off a pretty successful off-season for Pope and Kentucky.
