Could We See A Coach Kyle Wiltjer In Lexington?

Updated: Aug 27, 2021

Let the rumors and wishes begin. On Thursday afternoon during the announcement of former Wildcat Brad Calipari being named a Graduate Assistant Coach at UK, Kyle Wiltjer shown his support on Twitter.

"Congrats my boy [@bradcalipari] going to make a great coach. Make sure you hold a spot for me when I’m done playing #BBN."

Now there isn't much running room based off of one tweet, but, yes but, I'm going to add to this a little more. BRING OUT THE RECEIPTS. Less than a month ago, Kyle had the wildly random question of asking Big Blue Nation on Twitter this:

This tweet is the origin of the 'Coach Kyle Wiltjer' theory, that could become true some day. Kyle seems to be really active on Twitter, and multiple times a year makes Kentucky references or comments on Kentucky news. Now the sane ones of you might just say, "Duh Tres, He PlAyEd FoR KeNtUcKy. He'S jUsT sHoWiNg LoVe FoR hIs ScHoOl." Listen, we aren't here for all of that. Common sense doesn't apply to this conversation. I'd like to see a return for the National Champion on our staff some day, and I'm riding this train until I see fit.

And to be fair, I'm not the only one who has shown interest in this becoming reality. I'll shamelessly plug Kyle suggesting my thoughts of him coaching here aren't so crazy as many of you think.

If this was to ever happen, it's obviously many years away as Kyle is currently playing in a professional basketball league based out of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain. The club he plays for is named Lenovo Tenerife.
