Dane Key Has Committed To Kentucky

(Dane Key and his father, Donte, on his Kentucky visit)

Kentucky just picked up a commitment from one of the states top talents, in Dane Key. To be specific, he IS the best talent from the Commonwealth, with a No.1 ranking by 247Sports and ESPN. Key also is tabbed as the nations 36th best wide-receiver.

Legacy of Donte Key (1993-995), Dane has announced he will keep his talents home by committing to the Wildcats. He chose the Cayuts over Michigan, South Carolina and Oregon. He announced he would hold his commitment ceremony at his high school, on his older brothers (Devon) birthday, who spent his collegiate career at Western Kentucky and is now on the Kansas City Chiefs practice roster. And, a fact that you could care less about, is that Devon Key was my 'neighbor' in the dorm room over from me, during my freshman year at WKU.

It has been believed for a while now that he was a lock for Kentucky, until recent weeks when Michigan started to pick up some steam, although, I think Kentucky still held the lead most of the way through.

The 6'2, 195lb wide-out has been in attendance for many UK home games this season, and was noticeably there during the Florida storming-the-field night, with a video of him that got leaked, somewhat looking like he was saying he was coming to Kentucky. The fan videoing him rushing the field, said, "When are you committing?" Dane just responded with, "Lets do it. Lets do it." It was just a casual response that could've meant nothing, but saying that while celebrating a Kentucky win will have Kentucky fans going bonkers.

The four-star holds over twenty scholarships offers across the country, and him deciding to join what Mark Stoops is building here continues to speak volumes. The Frederick Douglass standout joins his former teammates Jager Burton and Dekel Crowdus from being a Bronco to a Wildcat. Douglass' Ty Bryant (2023) is also committed to the Cats.

Dane Key will enroll at Kentucky after he wraps up his senior year, with the class of 2022.

Hometown hero status: unlocked.
