Dontaie Allen Enters Name Into The Transfer Portal

It’s been back and forth for months now on if Falmouth (KY) native, Dontaie Allen, would transfer from Kentucky during the offseason.

Steam picked up shortly before the spring semester started this past January on if he’d make it through another semester at UK or not, and well he of course did, but now just one week after Kentucky’s season ended, he has officially put his name into the portal.

“All Love Big Blue Nation, forever my home,” started off the social media post. He continued by saying that has truly enjoyed his time in Lexington as he got to live out his dream as a Kentucky kid playing for the Wildcats.

“Wow. This journey has been like no other. I can’t thank Big Blue Nation enough for embracing me unconditionally through the highs and the lows. A kid from Kentucky given an unbelievable opportunity to play for his dream school… Lexington, Kentucky will forever be my home,” said Allen.

Dontaie saw his minutes significantly decreased this season as a whole new roster came in last offseason, and his shooting slump only pushed him further down the rotation. This season he averaged only 2.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game on 29.4% shooting, including a collegiate career-low 18.9% from the three-point line.

It sucks it didn’t work out here at Kentucky, and I’m so glad he at least got the opportunity to live out every Kentucky kid’s dream. Now, he’ll get the chance to move on to another school where he will get more consistent reps and start to showcase what he can truly do. I look for him to stay in state with this decision, if not, just right outside the state line.
