Earned Not Given

Brad Calipari, son of UK Head Coach John Calipari, will be moving on from his position on the 2021-2022 team as a Graduate Assistant. Calipari is expected to be joining the staff at LIU (Long Island University) under Head Coach Derek Kellogg. Brad will be named the Special Assistant to the Head Coach and will be working as support staff for the LIU Sharks.

Brad Calipari's roles as a GA at Kentucky had him involved in all on-court activities such as practices, individual workouts, and even film sessions. He also helped the team with the development of practice plans and the scouting of upcoming opponents.

Calipari was also a player for the University from 2017-2019 and was a part of the 88 victories, 2 Elite Eight appearances, an SEC regular-season championship, and 2 SEC Tournament titles within that period. Brad finished his collegiate career at Detroit Mercy where he saw the floor in 33 games over a two-season span for the Titans. Calipari averaged 6.1 ppg during the 2019-2020 season and also connected on 51 three-point field goals.

I am anxious to see what the future holds for Brad Calipari. As the son of a Hall of Fame coach, it will be interesting to see if young Brad can follow in his father's footsteps and pave his own road for himself and become a Head Coach for a collegiate basketball program in the future. He’s been watching and learning from his father for his entire life, and now it is time to see if he has absorbed any of that knowledge.
