Just when you thought the hype train for Kentucky Football was slowing down, more coal gets thrown onto the fire. On the first EAPN College Gameday of the 2022 season, analyst Desmond Howard said he believes that Kentucky could climb very high in the CFP rankings, letting them flirt with a national semifinal game bid.

“I like Kentucky. I think Kentucky has a chance to be a sleeper team,” Howard said. “Especially if you look at their quarterback Will Levis. I think in March he’s going to start climbing up the draft boards. Offensively, they brought in a new OC named Rich Scangarello. If you like the 49ers offense, you’re going to love what he’s going to bring to Lexington.”

ESPN had previously put out their yearly preseason predictions, which had the Wildcats finishing second behind Georgia. This seems to fit what most national media outlets have said. However, there a few analysts who think this may be a “glass ceiling” season for Mark Stoops and company, with multiple predictions of 10+ wins for the Wildcats.

There are others out there who think Kentucky is overhyped. Several less credible media personalities have said that Kentucky will only reach six or seven wins, but we all know that Mark Stoops has built a foundation that makes the floor considerably higher than it has ever been.
