Final Stats In Win Over Tennessee
Updated: Feb 19
Today was a great day in the land of Kentucky basketball. They picked up another Quad 1 win over rival No. 10 Tennessee, sweeping the Volunteers for the first time since the 2011-12 season. A Tennessee team that is fresh off a win over No. 1 Alabama, came into Rupp Arena and got sent back home with another loss, allowing the Cats to own two of their seven total season losses.
Scoring was not a problem today, as four Wildcats scored in double figures, with Cason Wallace and Oscar Tshiebwe leading the charge. I would also like to note that Kentucky made 23 total free throws this afternoon, looking near perfect up to the halftime mark at 12/13.

This week, Kentucky has played themselves into the NCAA Tournament, with back-to-back Quad 1 wins over Mississippi State on the road and No. 10 Tennessee at home. They also picked up a third Quad 1 win after their victory over the Texas A&M Aggies was upgraded to a Q1 result, once Texas A&M beat the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday evening. As a team that was being picked to miss the big dance just last Monday, in less than a week they have collected three Quad 1 wins and are doing everything they need to be doing with their backs against the wall.
Kentucky will head to Gainesville on Wednesday, as they look to improve in the conference, in which they currently sit at 9-5 and are in third place, with the record-breaker bump over Tennessee.
