First Two SEC Game Times Announced

Football season is right around the corner in my mind (it’s not actually), and Caturday’s are just a few weeks away (they’re not actually either, but let’s pretend) as well. After retaining Mark Stoops following the regular season from Aggies of Texas A&M, things are looking promising for another year under the head coach.

Kentucky will host another gauntlet of an SEC schedule this year, making trips to Ole Miss, Tennesseee, Florida, and Texas. They’ll also play host to some notable programs such as Georgia, Auburn, and South Carolina.

While not a high volume of football news comes out around this time of the year, we did receive word this afternoon that Kentucky now knows the kickoff times for their first two conference games of the 2024 season.

In Week 2 (Sept. 7) versus South Carolina and in Week 3 (Sept. 14) versus Georgia, Kentucky will open up Kroger Field for an afternoon game and also their first night game of the season. Their matchup against the Gamecocks will take place at 3:30 PM ET, and their matchup against the Bulldogs will take place at 7:30 PM ET. It’s a head-first jump into the gauntlet 8-game path inside the most physical conference in the sport.

The Wildcats will look for revenge over South Carolina as they lost in Columbia during last year’s edition, owning in back-to-back losses against the opponent. Since going on a five-game winning streak over South Carolina from 2014-18, they’ve now split at 2-3 in the previous five.

If Kentucky can jump to a 2-0 record on the season, they’ll have high hopes in hosting Georgia to Kroger Field as their starting quarterback and face of the program will go up against his former team. Brock Vandagriff won’t have any negative energy towards the school, but he’ll definitely have that competitors instinct to prove his worth to the program he was once picked over in at his position.

After Kentucky’s first three games of the year coming against Southern Miss, South Carolina, and Georgia, they’ll then face Ohio before going on their first road game to Ole Miss in the fifth week.
