Gonzaga At Kentucky Pushed Back To Later In The Season

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

The long awaited matchup between two powers of college basketball, Gonzaga and Kentucky, has been pushed back just a little longer. First off, notice how I didn't say two bluebloods, but secondly, adjust your scheduling going forward. CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein announced Wednesday afternoon that the matchup is now scheduled for late winter and not the fall like expected.

Based off the report, the game will be to help break up conference play for each program and unveil around the time that the Big12/SEC Challenge originally has taken place. If you weren't already aware, that has been replaced with the ACC/SEC Challenge moving forward in which Kentucky will host the Miami Hurricanes in Rupp Arena this season for it.

The return matchup with the Bulldogs is in part of a six-game series that dates through 2027.

  • 2022: Spokane Arena

  • 2023: Rupp Arena

  • 2024: Seattle

  • 2025: Nashville

  • 2026: Rupp Arena

  • 2027: The Kennel

Kentucky lost in their trip to Washington last November, 88-72, in a very tough road environment located right off of Gonzaga's campus. With the game coming in Lexington this season, the Cats will look to make a punch back.
