As the 2021 college football season comes to a close on Monday, student athletes are making decisions across the country on whether or not to return to their respective schools. Kentucky has another player announcing he will run it back one more year, and this is a BIG time deal for Kentucky.
Sunday evening, Jacquez Jones took to Twitter to announce his return to UK for the 2022 season. This is a big time return, as we saw an inexperienced group of linebackers struggle throughout the Citrus Bowl. After transferring to Kentucky from Ole Miss as a 5th year senior, Jacquez Jones finished the season with 37 solo tackles, 4 deflected passes and 0.5 sacks.
Kentucky is entering the 2022 season with a balanced attack at linebacker, however lacking a true edge rusher due to the loss of Josh Pascal to the NFL Draft.
The return of Jacquez Jones AND Jordan Wright are two that will not only immediately impact play on the field, but will also improve play of the younger players in the linebacker room such as Trevin Wallace, D’Eryk Jackson and Martez Thrower.
