Izayah Cummings Enters Transfer Portal

The Transfer Portal claims another Kentucky Wildcat. Kentucky fan favorite, Izayah Cummings, just announced via his social media that he will enter his name into the transfer portal for his final season of NCAA eligibility as a graduate transfer. Cummings is a Kentucky kid from Louisville, Kentucky who was a product out of Male High School and was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school.

Unfortunately, 2020 was Cummings' first season with the Wildcats and we all know how brutal that schedule was. During that covid year, he managed to see the field in nine of the eleven games the Wildcats played. Due to some injuries, he was called up from special teams to come in at the tight end position due his tall stature which proved to be very effective in the following year as he had 14 receptions for almost 200 yards receiving.

Many believed that Izayah Cummings was set up for a break out season in 2022, however, unfortunately for Cummings the program improved significantly in the wide receiver room adding Dane Key, Barion Brown, Jordan Dingle, and Josh Kattus to the show. Last season, the former 'Cat didn't manage to fit into Rich Scangarello's offense and his snaps got fewer and fewer as the season went on.

Even though he's leaving, he did have a very good game in Kentucky's 38-31 victory over Louisville this past weekend. He managed to go for 4 receptions for 98 yards, including a 55-yard reception that helped set up a touchdown run for running back Ray Davis. Izayah will definitely make another team very happy wherever he decides to go for his final year of eligibility, and hopefully he can find a lot of field time in that decision.

He now joins Jalen Geiger, Dekel Crowdus, Grant Bingham, and Jamarius Dinkins who all have entered their names into the transfer portal from Kentucky.
