Kind of surprising news to say the least, but to start this week off there's been a de-commitment from the UK football program. As first reported by Cats Illustrated, freshman tight end, Jakob Dixon, is no longer on the football team by choice.
After receiving an offer in June of 2022 and then signing with UK in December, Dixon hasn't been on campus for long. As to why he's leaving, it's still unknown. The three-star and 6th overall rated wide receiver from the state was a star at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville for the class of 2022.
Standing at 6'5" and weighing 210 lbs., you can't help but think some offense out there could benefit from having that size on their roster. Maybe he left because his role isn't panning out the way he thought it would through as the team preps/outlines the 2023 season, that's just me speculating, but if so, I'd expect him to announce very soon a decision to play for a different program and not just quit football as a whole.
While he's not yet announced if he will even enter the portal or not, he did hold offers from EKU, Murray State, Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois, and Dartmouth before committing to the Cats. Best of luck to Jakob with either route he takes.
