Jalen Geiger Set To Enter Transfer Portal

Transfer Portal season is officially here. Although players cannot officially enter their names into the portal for the 2024 season until next Monday, there have already been players across the country entering their names into the portal discussion. Kentucky Football had their first player just earlier today enter his name with that being redshirt senior cornerback Jalen Geiger.

Gieger was originally a three-star recruit out of Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina. He was one the the three remaining recruits from the 2019 signing class. Jalen came into the 2022 season as a junior and managed to earn a starting role in the safety position. Unfortunately, Geiger suffered a season-ending knee injury in only the second week of the season.

He took that entire season off to get healthy and managed to recover from the injury relatively quickly, but unfortunately, Jalen suffered another injury this season in week 6 against the Georgia Bulldogs. This was really a huge loss for the Wildcats as he had to be sidelined for the Missouri game the following week as well. After enduring another injury in the 2023 season, the veteran's snaps seemed to become few and far between, however, he still managed to have a decent career at Kentucky despite the injuries. His stats on the season resulted in 38 total tackles, two pass breakups, one interception, one sack, and two defensive touchdowns.

The entire Geiger family has been good to have around the Kentucky Football program and I have no doubt that Jalen will be able to find another landing spot for a team in another power conference. Gieger will have one more year of eligibility left due to the medical redshirt. We should have expected that the first name being thrown into the transfer portal could have come any day now, but it is kind of hard to see it come right after an awesome weekend with Kentucky beating Louisville in the Governor's Cup. I guess that's just the nature of the beast we live in today.

Thank you to Jalen Geiger for everything that he has done to bring success to the Kentucky Football program and best of luck to him in his future endeavors. I think Kentucky loses a potentially valuable piece in this decision, but the kid deserves to chase his success as well.

I feel like this could be just one of many players that will be a part of the transfer portal for Kentucky, so stay up to date on all of your Kentucky news and reporting by following us on all of our different social media outlets at the links below.
