Jason Patterson Flips To Kentucky

The Kentucky coaching staff had a fairly good start on the recruiting trail for the 2024 class this summer with commitments from Cutter Boley, the Smith twins, as well as Brian Robinson. Kentucky did appear to miss out on one of their key targets for the upcoming class when running back Jason Patterson originally chose Cincinnati over Kentucky. This is one that kind of stung a little bit because Patterson committed to play for Scott Satterfield (the former Louisville Head Coach).

However, this season is not going the best for him as Cincinnati finds themselves 2-7 and their last three games against Houston, West Virginia, and Kansas will not make it any easier on the Bearcats. All of this to say that just moments ago, former Kentucky target Jason Patterson, made the decision to flip his commitment from Cincinnati to the University of Kentucky today. I can't speculate on what made him change his mind about what school he wants to take his talents to, but one can't help but to wonder if the disappointing season by Satterfield played a factor in his decision.

Here is a little bit more information about Kentucky's next piece for the 2024 recruiting class. Jason Patterson is a 5'11" two hundred pound running back from Sneads, Florida, where he is in his senior year at Sneads High School. Jason is a 3-star recruit, the 25th-best running back in the nation, the 49th-best overall player in the entire state of Florida, and the 522nd-best player overall in the nation, according to 247Sports. He not only had offers from Cincinnati and Kentucky, but also Boston College, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Tulane, UCF, West Virginia, and many others.

This is a huge get for the coaching staff including running backs coach, Jay Boulware. The Wildcats needed some depth going into next year at the running back position with Ray Davis, JuTahn McClain, and Ramon Jefferson being seniors. The Wildcats do have Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, La'Vell Wright, and Jamarion Wilcox however, we will have to wait and see if they have what it takes to step up and fill the shoes of those leaving after this season. You also have to consider the transfer portal as well.
