Jayden Quaintance Commits To Kentucky

Kentucky Basketball gets two recruiting commitments within a four day period. This one is a big one for the 2024 recruiting class as 5-star recruit, Jayden Quaintance, made his decision today that he plans on going to the University of Kentucky. Quaintance joins Somto Cyril, Boogie Fland, and Travis Perry as the fourth commitment for John Calipari in 2024.

This recruitment had Kentucky fans on the edge of their seats as Kentucky was locked in a hard and heavy recruiting battle with another SEC East rival, Missouri. With NIL being a huge factor in Quaintance's decision on where he was planning on playing college ball, you have to speculate that Kentucky has managed to figure out the NIL game or perhaps Quaintance just couldn't turn down the history of Kentucky Basketball and the chance to learn and develop his game under the program with John Calipari at the helm.

Jayden Quaintance is a 6'10" 230-pound center out of Cleveland, Ohio who is currently a senior playing for Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. You might also know that school as the home of John Wall. Quaintance was originally a part of the class of 2025 before reclassifying to the 2024 circa.

Here's the kicker - He is only 16 years old at the moment and he won't turn 18 until he has already stepped foot on campus, and what makes that so significant is because he has two years before he can enter his name into the 2026 NBA Draft. Kentucky would then have a two-year player that's very talented. Quite the unique situation.

Not only did Kentucky edge out Missouri in the recruiting battle but Quaintance had several offers from other schools including Florida, Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Mississippi State, Kansas, Baylor, and Washington, among many others. The recruit is ranked as the ninth-best player overall in 2024, the second-best overall center, and the second-best player in the entire state of North Carolina.

The 2024 recruiting class is definitely shaping up for John Calipari as the pieces are finally starting to fall into place. There are several other recruits to keep your eyes on in the coming weeks and months, and those include Billy Richmond, Karter Knox, and VJ Edgecombe. I would honestly say that Kentucky is still in the mix for these three as well so just something to keep your eye on.
