Jayvant Brown Flips To Kentucky On National Signing Day

Merry Flip-mas! Jayvant Brown, a 2023 outside linebacker and 4 star recruit, has announced that he has committed to Kentucky following his decommitment from Michigan State three days ago.

The Florida native stands in at 6'1" 220 lbs and ranks as the 18th best outside linebacker in his recruiting class according to Rivals. Brown has excellent sideline to sideline speed for a linebacker and is a great open field tackler as well. Before committing and decommitting from Michigan State and ultimately landing on Kentucky, Brown received tons of recruiting interest on a national level. He received offers from some heavy hitters in the recruiting and college football world including Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan among many others. To say this is a big time recruiting win for Mark Stoops and company is an understatement.

Brown will look to continue what is becoming a tradition of success in Kentucky's linebacker corps. Veterans such as DeAndre Square, Jacquez Jones, and Jordan Wright have led the way the past couple of years, but both will play their final snaps for the Cats on New Years Eve in the Music City Bowl against Iowa. JJ Weaver is also rumored to potentially leave for the professional ranks after this season as well. Trevin Wallace, D'Eryk Jackson, and Keaten Wade are in line to step up next for Kentucky in the linebacker room, but Jayvant Brown and Grant Godfrey, a pair of 4 star 2023 recruits, should be shortly behind.

Kentucky has stayed very quiet on the recruiting trail for most of the football season, to the point where many fans were concerned about how the class would end up, especially following a disappointing seven win season. However, staying quiet may have allowed Stoops to make some late big time additions to close out the class, such as the flip from Jayvant Brown. Mark Stoops very well may be looking at one of his most talented recruiting classes in his tenure at Kentucky.
