JJ Weaver Coming Back For One Last Season

Some more good news for Kentucky fans today. Kentucky's Senior linebacker, JJ Weaver, announced via his social media that he will be returning for his season of eligibility. This will make Weaver's sixth season with the Wildcats, as he took a redshirt his freshman season and he also had the one year from COVID as well.

This is HUGE news for Kentucky and the coaching staff because the linebacker position is one that was looking to be slim if Weaver did choose to leave Kentucky for the 2024 NFL Draft. In his five seasons with Kentucky, Weaver has managed to rack up quite an impressive stat sheet. Weaver has 160 total tackles (106 solo), seven pass deflections, 15 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions.

I am sure that defensive coordinator, Brad White, is breathing a sigh of relief with this announcement. It will be interesting to see if this defense can improve from a somewhat disappointing season in 2023 with D'Eryk Jackson, JJ Weaver, Jamon Dumas-Johnson, and Deone Walker. I don't see many teams being able to run the ball at will against that kind of lineup.
