Joel Justus answers circulating Olivier Sarr questions
This afternoon, UK Assistant Coach Joel Justus met with the media as the Kentucky Basketball season is just right around the corner.
Some of the biggest concerns coming in from the offseason is Olivier Sarr. Kentucky is fighting to get the Wake Forest transfer eligible in Lexington, and its been a process that's been going on for months now. Sarr actually committed to Kentucky at the beginning of May, and now 5 months later we still don't have an answer. Joel Justus was asked if he's heard anything on when Kentucky will be notified on Sarr's eligibility, and unfortunately he didn't have any new news that we didn't already know. Although, he did have good things to say about the 7'0 big man. “Olivier is a beautiful person that has a great attitude and a positive outlook on every single day. He is one of the first guys in the gym. He’s putting in extra time. He’s becoming a great leader for this young group.”
It's no doubt that he's exactly what Kentucky needs to transform the team into a serious title contender if they can get him eligible for this season. On another note, Kentucky has also taken team photos that include Olivier Sarr, so take that as good news like as I did.
While on Zoom with the media, Joel Justus also dropped the hint (I don't think it was secretive, it's just the news hadn't been let out yet) that Kentucky will have it's first official practice of the 2020-21 season this Friday. “We’re all just waiting to see what Friday looks like and see who shows up to practice, I guess. That’s always a good sign.”
The College Basketball season officially begins November 25th, and the Wildcats are beginning their trip of another deep tournament run come March.
College Basketball is BACK.
