Joel Williams Enters Transfer Portal

Three and a half weeks before the season officially begins when Miami of Ohio comes to town, Kentucky has lost a player to the portal. Defensive back, Joel Williams, is in search for a new home.

"I have entered the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility...Thank You Kentucky," read Williams' Twitter post.

The now junior spent the last year and a half in Lexington being used as needed and put up some valuable reps in over two dozens games during his time. As a mid-year enrollee in 2020, Williams played in nine games and had 3 tackles for the year. Last season, he played in seven games for the Cats resulting in just two tackles (Florida and New Mexico State).

The former four-star recruit and No.26 ranked safety in the class of 2019 is exiting the program with three years left of eligibility. He hails from Baton Rouge so there's no telling if he'll wind up close to home or not.
