Joey Hart Picks Kentucky

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

Kentucky looks to be adding some of the final pieces to their 2023-24 mens basketball roster. The 6-4, 180-pound shooting guard from Linton, Indiana is a 3-star prospect according to 24/7 Sports and provides a much needed role, a body to practice with.

The Linton Stockton High School alum finished his senior year averaging 23.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game and shot 41% from behind the three point line, all while providing the instinctiveness to out-hustle his opponent. Hart gained offers from UCF, Ball State, Drake, Illinois State, Indiana State, Loyola Chicago, New Orleans, and Wichita State. Hart was also interested in Indiana, Butler, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and Texas, but had not received offers from those schools.

According to the Twitter machine, it looks as though a fan noticed a Joey Hart's locker already set up, illuminating him to wearing #20 for the Cats this season.

This offseason has not been an ideal one for Coach Cal and staff to date. They lost Cason Wallace, Oscar Tshiebwe, Chris Livingston, and Jacob Toppin to the NBA Draft, where all but Wallace may go undrafted. They also lost Daimion Collins, Lance Ware, CJ Fredrick, and Sahvir Wheeler to the transfer portal, with Antonio Reeves' status still in question as well.

The current roster stands at 6 freshmen (with Hart) and 2 sophomores. So, while a three-star freshman may not seem like a big deal, it is a win both the staff and the BBN needed to get some positive momentum heading into the depths of the offseason.
