Justin Rogers To Enter Transfer Portal
Updated: Jan 4
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Kentucky defensive lineman Justin Rogers has filed the paperwork to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Rogers has started in 18 games during his career at Kentucky, including 12 games this season. Rogers has 60 career tackles, five tackles for loss and three career sacks. Rogers was highly recruited 4-star prospect out of Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Michigan. He was listed as the seventh best defensive lineman in the class of 2020. Before committing to Kentucky, he held offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and many others.
While losing Rogers is a significant loss, the Wildcats have plenty of options along the defensive line. Rogers departure will put the focus on redshirt freshman Jamarius Dinkins, a 3-star prospect from Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, Ohio. He was listed as Rogers backup on the depth chart for the Music City Bowl. Also scheduled to return on the interior of the defensive line are freshman Deone Walker, junior Octavious Oxendine and junior Josaih Hayes. Incoming 3-star freshman Tavion Gadson can also provide quality depth on the inside.
Rogers would be the 12th Wildcat to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The other departures include:
WR Chauncey Magwood
WR Chris Lewis
WR DeMarcus Harris
WR Rahsaan Lewis
WR Tae Tae Crumes
RB Kavosiey Smoke
RB Michael Drennen
TE Keaton Upshaw
OL John Young
OL Kiyaunta Goodwin
DB Adrian Huey
