Kendrick Gilbert Commits To Kentucky!

Merry Flipmas, Big Blue Nation! Today is National Signing Day for the recruiting Class of 2023 and the Kentucky Wildcats Football staff woke up to a pleasant surprise. Kendrick Gilbert, a 6'5" tall defensive lineman from Indiana, flipped his commitment from Purdue to Kentucky this morning.

Gilbert is a four-star recruit from Cathedral High School and is ranked as the 381st best player in the country, the forty-sixth best defensive lineman in the country and the third best player in the entire state of Indiana for his class, according to 247 Sports. Gilbert formerly committed to Purdue and then-Head Coach Jeff Brohm, back on August 22, 2022.

However, once Jeff Brohm announced that he was leaving Purdue to become the new Head Football Coach for the Louisville Cardinals, after Scott Satterfield left for the job at Cincinnati, there was speculation that Gilbert may reconsider his commitment to the Boilermakers. He had a wide variety of offers from several top-tier schools such as Iowa, LSU, Cincinnati, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, among many others.

Here are some highlights from Kendrick Gilbert's senior season with Cathedral High School. He's is definitely a welcomed addition to the Wildcats' 2023 class and his size and agility will be great to have on the defensive line. Kendrick could make an impact as early as his freshman year with Kentucky.
