Kentucky Adds Marshall To 2023-24 Non-Conference Schedule

It was just announced earlier today that Kentucky will add Marshall to its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. As basketball season quickly approaches, we find ourselves only a little bit over 2 months out from the college basketball season tipping off and we are getting an idea now on what Kentucky's full schedule will look like. The date of the match-up between Kentucky and Marshall is still unknown at this time.

This will be the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs and the Wildcats have dominated the Thundering Herd as they are undefeated in those previous twelve games. The last meeting was held in Rupp Arena back in December of 2012 where the Cats won that game with a final score of 82-54.

Marshall is led by Head Coach Dan D'Antoni who is the brother of Mike D'Antoni. Dan has worked under his younger brother as an assistant with the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

D'Antoni has been with Marshall since 2014 and in his tenure with the Thundering Herd he has led them to a NCAA Tournament bid where they were able to defeat the number four seed Wichita State in the first-round game for the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win.

I know that this may not be a powerhouse name that many Kentucky fans want to see on the non-conference schedule but I do believe that this will be a decent addition and test for the young Wildcats. Marshall finished the season last year 24-8 (13-5) in the Sun Belt Conference and it was also their first season in the Sun Belt since leaving Conference USA.

As we learn more opponents, the dates and times for Kentucky's full schedule will be provided for you right here.
