Kentucky Adds Two In-State Exhibition Games
Updated: Oct 8
We've pretty much got entire schedule figured out except the early non-conference slate. The entire conference schedule has been announced, all of the high-profile non-conference games as well, but you know those very, very early first glimpses of the team against the small programs asking to get pounded? Well, we got two of those added to the schedule today.
The UK men's basketball program announced two exhibition games for the 2023-24 schedule to launch the season. Georgetown College will head to Rupp Arena on October 27 while Kentucky State University will make that same trip on November 2.
The Unity Series, which was created many years ago and led by John Calipari himself, will continue with the KSU game as it's an annual contest that helps promote and highlight HBCU's across the country. This will be the third straight season that Kentucky has done that.
The times of the 2 games have not been announced yet, but we will post those once they become available. This will be the fourth time for both GC and KSU to make the big trip to Rupp Arena which is less than a 25-minute drive for both programs. For those of you who don't know, they are both local educational institutions as Georgetown is in of course, Georgetown, and Kentucky State University is in Frankfort. Both towns border Lexington. Fun fact, the two schools enroll less than 3,500 total student combined. Nearly 7,000 freshmen students enrolled into UK this fall.
Kentucky sits at 150-12 all-time in exhibition games with a 29-game winning streak. The school is also undefeated against these two programs at 6-0 all-time.
