Good ol’ Mondays, when we get to overreact on the Associated Press’ top twenty-five rankings of college basketball. Most thought that Kentucky was underrated coming out of the offseason and I believe the play that we’ve seen through the first 6 games confirms that this team is gelling very, very well. And they’re only going to get better.
Anyways, you’re here to see where the ‘Cats climbed up to in the last 7 days and I’m here to tell you. After a win in overtime against Stonewall and a blowout win over Marshall, they have moved up four spots to No. 12 in the country from sixteenth, looking aggressively at that top-ten status hopefully by next Monday if they take care of business against current eighth ranked Miami this week. Kentucky has been one of the better teams to break open college basketball but they're just trying to fight the offseason middle-of-the-pack rankings they received after consecutive disappointing seasons to wreck their credibility to the voters. Here's how this week comes in at.
AP Top-25 Rankings
Purdue
Arizona
Marquette
UConn
Kansas
Houston
Duke
Miami
Baylor
Tennessee
Following between Kentucky and tenth ranked Tennessee is Gonzaga at 11th. Behind Kentucky at twelfth is Florida Atlantic out of the AAC. For the full AP Top-25 rankings, click here to view.
As the football regular season ended this weekend, until the bowl game it’s time for the fanbase to turn all eyes towards this exciting young basketball team and root for them hard. John Calipari finally has the type of group that he's found a lot of success with and it's very obvious he is high on the potential of this team which is a sight we haven't seen from him in many years. The vibes around the program at the moment are fun and I think everyone is grateful for a chance at another exciting ride.
