Kentucky Continues Win Streak, Defeats Texas A&M For Third Straight

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

Kentucky got a much needed victory on Saturday, defeating the Texas A&M Aggies 76-67 in a front a packed house in Rupp Arena. The win is the Wildcats third in a row and came against an Aggies team that came into the game undefeated in SEC play.

The game was a slugfest, with several fouls bordering on F1 or F2 status. Oscar Tshiebwe did battle with Julius Marble, leading to him sitting most of the first half with foul trouble. Antonio Reeves hit five 3-pointers scoring a season-high 23 points to lead Kentucky to victory. He was 5/11 from the beyond the arc. The Wildcats shot 34.4% on three-point shots for the game. Jacob Toppin scored 17 points, while CJ Fredrick added 12 points and Cason Wallace had 11 points. The Wildcats had a 17-4 edge on the offensive boards with Oscar Tshiebwe leading the game with 17 total rebounds.

The Wildcats will take their three-game win streak to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores on Tuesday evening. The Commodores are 10-9 on the season with a 3-3 conference record. Memorial Gymnasium provides an unusual environment and is a clear advantage for Vanderbilt as the Cats struggle with it each trip. John Calipari will have to ensure that he has his team focused if he hopes to continue the winning streak to four as they prep for the blockbuster Kansas game afterwards.

Kentucky at Vanderbilt tips off at 9 p.m. ET. and can be seen broadcasted on the SEC Network.
