Kentucky Drops In The AP Poll

Kentucky has two games under their belt and are sitting at 2-0 as they're about to face their first true competition of the season in No. 1 Kansas at the Champions Classic this Tuesday night. They own a 40-point win and a 20-point win but I guess that wasn't enough to keep the voters happy because they actually dropped in the AP poll on Monday.

The men's basketball team dropped only one spot from their preseason ranking of No. 16 to No. 17 by the Associated Press.

  1. Kansas

  2. Purdue

  3. Arizona

  4. Marquette

  5. UConn

  6. Houston

  7. Tennessee

  8. Creighton

  9. Duke

  10. Florida Atlantic

Kentucky comes in ranked right behind USC at 16th, and ahead of Michigan State at 18th. To view the full AP Top-25, click here.

Tuesday will be a phenomenal test to see where this team ranks at against one of college basketball's highest projected teams. Now, this won't be an exact measurement of this team's ceiling due to not having a completely healthy roster, but it will be a great early evaluation of its guard play and if Kentucky could bring home a statement win in just the second week of November without its full rotation, that would really cement the summer predictions of the talent that we believe this team has.

Kentucky will face Kansas in the late game at 9:30 pm, which likely won't even tip off until after 10 o'clock. So, who's in for a late Tuesday night challenge?
