It's the middle of May and we're talking about basketball - I love it. Some information has come out about the annual CBS Sports Classic that Kentucky participates in each year, so let's talk about it.
Jeff Goodman of Stadium.com has reported the matchups for this year's games and the official date of the event.
The 2022 CBS Sports Classic will take place in New York this winter, inside Madison Square Garden, on December 17th. Kentucky will face UCLA, as North Carolina takes on Ohio State. I don't think it has been made public yet on which game will come first that night along with the times of them.
Kentucky played North Carolina this past season in the Classic, winning by a dominating 29 points. One thing I'll forever remember from that game was when Oscar (I think unintentionally) had what I called the Shawn Kemp dunk.
Looking back on the history of the CBS Sports Classic, Kentucky is 4-4 all-time in it, with North Carolina being 5-3, Ohio State at 4-3, and UCLA at 2-5. Ohio State and UCLA did not participate in the last one due to COVID-19 protocols, which had Kentucky playing UNC instead of the scheduled UCLA.
