Kentucky Moves Up In The AP Poll Following The Ole Miss And Auburn Win

Deservedly so, Kentucky jumped up a handful of spots in this week's edition of the AP Top-25. After taking care of business (finally) at home against Ole Miss on Tuesday night, then finding a way to go down to Auburn and leave with the win as well, you'll be rewarded come Monday. Their win over the Auburn was a statement win and undisputedly their best of the season.

Previously at the No. 22 spot, the Wildcats come in this Monday ranked 17th, up five total spots. Here is how the top-ten checks out this time around.

  1. UConn

  2. Houston

  3. Purdue

  4. Arizona

  5. Tennessee

  6. Iowa State

  7. Marquette

  8. Duke

  9. Kansas

  10. North Carolina

Kentucky is right behind Dayton (ranked 16th) and just ahead of Saint Mary's (ranked 18th). Going forward, Kentucky still has a tough way to go. On Wednesday night they'll head to Baton Rouge to try to earn another in-conference road win just days apart. There are six remaining games left in the regular season and the Cats are 18-7 going into this final stretch. If they can keep riding this momentum then their postseason path won't be as hard as it was setting itself up to be after a tough stretch from mid-January to mid-February. Winning four or more of the last six will polish this team to a 22-9 record with an overflow of momentum for the SEC Tournament.
