Kentucky Moves Up In This Week's AP Poll

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

Kentucky struggled a little following their big win a couple of weeks ago over the No. 8 ranked Miami Hurricanes. The 'Cats let UNC Wilmington come into Rupp Arena and get the best win in their school's history on what was suppose to be a smooth-sailing Saturday afternoon, so we thought. With that being said, Kentucky was down a man with DJ Wagner suffering a sprained ankle in the week before against Miami, but the Wildcats had a week to stew on the crushing loss before being presented with the challenge. That loss had dropped them down to 16th in the country before taking on the Penn Quakers on the road this past weekend, which they won.

The national media did give Kentucky some more credit after Kentucky's rebound win over Penn this past Saturday as Kentucky won 81-66. Some of this might come to the credit of what kind of game Kentucky freshman Aaron Bradshaw had. The freshman had himself a game with 17 points and 11 rebounds, further proving why he should be considered a potential first round NBA Draft pick this summer. The projections have always been there, but now he's back them up on the floor. Kentucky has a long way to go defensively but offensively the Wildcats are still as competitive as about any other team in the nation.

The AP Poll came out this week as it always does, and the Wildcats have moved up again. This week they are inside the top-15 at No. 14, just before the Wildcats' matchup against 9th ranked UNC Tarheels this Saturday in the State Farm Champions Classic based in Atlanta. Tip off for that matchup is set for 5:30 pm ET. CBS will be airing the game.
