It appears Will Levis has earned the keys for Week 1 against Louisiana-Monroe. Mark Stoops held a press conference Sunday evening to confirm:
"You wanna make the right decision, first and foremost" in regards to starting Levis over Beau Allen and Joey Gatewood. Stoops also mentioned it was 'clear' that Levis was at the top of the list.
This news comes only a week after the beginning of fall camp, a promising sign for Kentucky and the future of the quarterback position.
Stoops also added that Joey Gatewood will soon be in the transfer portal, and announcing Levis as the starter gives Gatewood the time to find a school that best suites him, and waiting a week longer would have 'trapped' Gatewood into staying at a program he did not want to be at.
