Kentucky Not Punished In AP Poll
This past week, Kentucky faced two tough opponents in two hostile environments, and left with a 1-1 split. They took a 64-58 win over Texas A&M in College Station before falling to Auburn 80-71 in "The Jungle".
With a "Quad 1" win and a road loss to the #2 team in the country, I would find it very hard to reward or punish Kentucky in this week's rankings. The AP Poll agrees, keeping Kentucky at last week's ranking of #12. Auburn was awarded the #1 spot in the country, passing Gonzaga, following their victory over the Cats.
Looking ahead to this week's matchups, Mississippi State did not receive any votes to be ranked in the poll. However, Kentucky will be faced with a top 5 opponent on the road in consecutive Saturdays, as Kansas comes in at #5.
