Kentucky Offensive Lineman, Reuben "RJ" Adams, declared today that he will be transferring from the University of Kentucky after two seasons with the Wildcats. Adams is from Woodbridge, VA, and came to Kentucky in 2019 as a 3-Star recruit. Adams was also ranked the 23rd best Offensive Guard in the 2020 Class by 247 Sports.
RJ Adams used a redshirt in both his Freshman and Sophomore years at Kentucky, meaning that he has 4 years of eligibility left for whatever school he decides to commit to. Adams only practiced with the team last year, however, it is worth noting that when he committed he chose Kentucky over both NC State and Alabama. Not only did the Wolfpack and the Crimson Tide want him, but a plethora of colleges went after Adams as well. Schools such as Tennessee, Penn State, LSU, Miami, and Florida State, among others.
I don't believe that this is a one-sided decision but a mutual decision on both sides and that Adams is looking for a school better suited for himself. This should be some encouragement for the fanbase that if Kentucky's offensive line can't find room for the likes of Adams then we are more than likely in good shape at those positions.
