Kentucky picks up a commitment from Bryce Hopkins

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

Things seem to be rolling in the basketball world of Kentucky, as Calipari and Co. pick up a big time commitment from four-star Bryce Hopkins.

This now makes the second commitment from the 2021 class, joining four-star Nolan Hickman. The 6-foot-7, 220lb forward is ranked as the No. 30 overall prospect in his class, and is still believed to be a bit "underrated" by many tops prospects.

The icing on the cake is that back in November 2019, he was committed to the University of Louisville. After months thinking on his decision, he decided to decommit from the school and explore his other options. Just 12 days later Kentucky comes in with the offer, spitting gasoline on the in-state rivalry. Two weeks later comes the unofficial visit to Kentucky and within a month, he commits.

TheCatsPauses' Chris Fisher has the timeline all written out:

Bryce Hopkins originally held offers from Louisville, Wisconsin, Xavier, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Oregon, South Carolina, and dozens of others.
