Kentucky Reaches Out To Utah Valley Big Man, Fardaws Aimaq

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

The season hadn’t been over a full 24 hours before Kentucky’s staff was immediately back to work, checking out the transfer portal and preparing for next season.

There are plenty of roster changes that will come before next October, and as every summer goes there will be some we didn’t expect. Kentucky has to be prepared for anything, and have all holes filled for next year.

While it’s still up in the air if Oscar is going to leave or not, Kentucky has reportedly reached out to Utah Valley center, Fardaws Aimaq. The 6’11, 245lb WAC star announced he had entered the transfer portal once their season ended, and could be a potential replacement if Oscar decided to leave.

Last season he played in 32 games, averaging 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds. He also shot 49% from the field, 43.5% from the three, 1.7 assists a game, 1.3 blocks, and 0.7 steals on a nightly basis for the Wolverines. In 2020-21, he averaged 15.0 rebounds for the entire season.

In that same season, he averaged the most rebounds in college basketball. Was named WAC Player of the Year (2021), WAC Defensive Player of the Year (2021) and received All-WAC First-team selections (‘21, ‘22)

Of course you want Oscar Tshiebwe for another year - who wouldn’t - but man if he decides to go this would be as about as close of a replacement as you could get statistical wise.
