Kentucky Schedules Visit For Top 2023 Target

An official visit to Kentucky has been set up for one of the top basketball recruits in the class of 2023, Ron Holland, for the weekend on June 13-15. While on campus, it is expected that Holland will finally receive the much anticipated offer from Coach Calipari to play for his Wildcats.

Holland is one of the highest rated and fastest rising prospects in the country. The forward from Texas now ranks ninth in the country (Rivals), 15 spots up from their previous rankings. He is known for possessing good size for his position at 6'8", while also having perimeter scoring skills, being a versatile defender, and possessing elite athleticism.

Because of his high status, it has been quite surprising that Kentucky has yet to ramp up the intensity in his recruitment and give him an offer. In fact, Holland has been outspoken multiple times about really liking Kentucky, but wishing he had heard more from their coaching staff. Out of Ron Holland's remaining seven schools that he is considering (not including G League or Overtime), Kentucky is the only one to has not officially offered him yet. This lack of commitment to the prospect has allowed other schools, most notably Arkansas, to gain lots of buzz and momentum as of late.

If there is one thing John Calipari knows how to do, it is get elite talent to Lexington. But you can't help but question the hesitancy to go all in on Holland, which now puts a lot of pressure on the coaching staff during the official visit, as there is lots of ground to make up. If we want Holland in the blue and white, June 13, 14, and 15 will have to go to near perfection.
