Kentucky Takes Hit In AP Rankings After Missouri Loss

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

It is Monday and you know the drill. It is AP Poll ranking time!! Unfortunately, this might not be the one you want to get excited about.

The Cats have fallen out of the top 25 by the Associated Press, after being ranked 19th just a week ago. This is a result of their loss at Missouri. They also had a feel good win against in-state rival Louisville, but it does not really count for much, as this year’s Cardinals team is one of the worst in the country. I knew Kentucky would drop a few spots from 19th after their loss, but I did not think that they would fall seven plus spots and completely out of the poll.

We normally put the entire top twenty-five in these weekly posts, but without Kentucky in it, who really cares? While it does suck to be unranked, I can not say I completely disagree with the decision. Kentucky’s December struggles have to be acknowledged and this is a part of that. They will be back in the rankings before too long, once they get things figured out. We just need to give it some time.

As for what is next, Kentucky will host LSU at home on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. If they want to start making some progression nationally, they need to get the win. I believe they will.
