The Kentucky Wildcats’ 2021 regular season finale against the Louisville Cardinals and the battle for the Governor’s Cup will be on prime time on ESPN 2 with kickoff at 7:30 EST.
The news broke today following Kentucky’s 56 - 16 point win against the New Mexico State Aggies. Louisville is also coming off of two impressive wins against Syracuse (41 - 3) at home and the Duke Blue Devils this week (62 - 22) on the road. If you add that up the Cardinals have beaten their last two opponents by a combined amount of 103 - 25. The Cardinals are already bowl eligible as they currently set at 6 - 5.
The Wildcats have won 2 straight against the Cardinals including an impressive 45-13 win at Kroger Field in 2019. Sadly enough the in state rivalry did not take place last season during the COVID year due to the SEC implementing an in conference only schedule. I know if you're like me you don't read into ESPN's matchup predictor all that much, however, they have Louisville's percentage of winning the Governor's Cup at 61.8% (I wasn't a Statistics major in college so I can't tell you how they get this number). TeamRankings also had the Cards bringing home the trophy as they predicted a 27-24 win over the Kentucky Wildcats.
