Kentucky Wide Receiver Target Opens Recruitment

Karmello English, a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2023, began the day as an Auburn commit. As of 11:07 am, he is one of Mark Stoops's top flip candidates as he has officially decommitted from Auburn and opened his recruitment.

English is a 6'0" 182 lbs wideout from Phenix City, AL (Rivals). During his initial recruitment, English had official visits to three schools - Kentucky, Michigan, and Auburn - and many recruiting experts had believed it was a two school race between SEC foes Kentucky and Auburn. The Alabama native had originally chosen to stay close to home, but Vince Marrow and crew were not far behind in this recruitment.

First, Kentucky has back-to-back seasons of a top wide receiver transfer coming in with Wan'Dale Robinson and Tayvion Robinson. Now, a pair of true freshman in Dane Key and Barion Brown have already combined for three touchdowns in their first two games. And next, with Anthony Brown and Shamar Porter already committed, the addition of Karmello English would give Kentucky's 2023 recruiting class three wide receivers with four-star rank. Dare I say, Kentucky is becoming a wide receiver school?

Also, it is very important to note that our QB1 Will Levis will almost certainly being entering the NFL Draft at the end of this season. With former four-star quarterback Beau Allen transferring this past offseason, Kentucky will most likely need to go "portalling" this spring to find the future play caller for the Cats. With an NFL style Offensive Coordinator in Rich Scangarello, and a deep, talented, and young wide receiver corps, Kentucky might be able to hand pick whatever quarterback they want.
