Kentucky Wildcats Add Talented Transfer From Knoxville

Amidst the roller coaster of an off-season involving the Running Back position, Kentucky landed a highly talented transfer from the University of Tennessee this evening. Dee Beckwith has decided to make the transition from Knoxville to Lexington after his 2 seasons with the Vols.

The 6'5", 230 pound running back from Florence, Alabama was a 3-Star recruit in the Class of 2020 and was the 17th best player in the state of Alabama that year. He was the 397th best player in the nation as well, according to 247Sports. Beckwith had several offers from some big name schools back in 2020 such as Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oregon, and yes, even Kentucky.

With Chris Rodriguez Jr, Kavosiey Smoke, JuTahn McClain, La'Vell Wright and recently added Ramon Jefferson on the roster at the running back position, it is uncertain as to how UK Offensive Coordinator Rich Scangarello will use Beckwith. I could easily see how, with his size, that he could be used as a fullback on offense, but also I wouldn't put it past Mark Stoops and the staff to use him in the secondary either. No matter what position Beckwith ends up at, it is always a great get when you can steal someone like him from an conference opponent.

In 2020, Beckwith only had 3 rush attempts and had 27 yards on the year. However, if there is anything to come out of this, it may be that the Vols weren't using Beckwith the way he needed to be used. I fully trust Stoops and the staff and if they wanted Dee, then they must see something in him that the staff down in Knoxville didn't.
