Kobi Albert Enters Transfer Portal

In a move most did not see coming, freshman safety Kobi Albert has entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Kobi Albert was a National Signing Day surprise for the 2022 class, as he had been committed to Auburn for a long time before flipping his commitment to Kentucky. However, Albert was not an immediate impact player from the highly ranked Wildcats' 2022 class. While he did not make the impact that Deone Walker, Alex Afari and Keaton Wade did, he played in nearly every game for the Wildcats, although mostly on the special teams unit. Albert recorded 3 tackles, with 2 of them coming against Iowa in the Music City Bowl. Kentucky's depth at safety allowed them to absorb several injuries at that position.

Troy Head Coach Jon Sumrall was Albert's lead recruiter and it would not be a surprise if Troy was Albert's landing spot. He would join former Kentucky recruit Devonte Ross, for Wildcats wide receiver Chris Lewis and possibly former Wildcat running back Kavosiey Smoke, who has shown major interest in Troy. The new staff at Auburn May also target Albert to go play for new head coach Hugh Freeze.
