Liam Coen Has Health Scare On Sunday Afternoon
Really scary news came out late Sunday evening following the day after Kentucky's win over Eastern Kentucky University. Offensive Coordinator Liam Coen, who is in his second season with the Wildcats, was at the root of the urgent news. The school announced that he had a "medical episode" on Sunday at/near his office on campus.
The official statement by the football program and university was put out as soon as possible regarding the incident.
"On Sept. 10, 2023, at approximately 12:40 p.m., University of Kentucky assistant football coach Liam Coen had a medical episode while at work at UK’s football offices on campus. He is currently in good condition at UK Chandler Hospital while doctors and medical personnel continue to monitor him and he is expected to be released Monday. Out of respect for his privacy and that of his family, we will have no additional comment at this time."
While that is extremely scary, we should just keep him in our thoughts and let him have time to himself while he recovers from whatever it may be. Prayers to he and his family as I'm sure this was a major surprise to them as well.
It's really eye-opening to think about. I was just speaking to him Saturday night during the postgame interviews around 7 p.m. and he seemed as fine as ever. It just makes you think about just how quickly things can happen. Thankfully, it seems that he is going to be okay as the school says that they expect him to be released from UK Chandler Hospital on Monday.
